The aim of the Dental Nursing Certificate at Cardiff is to provide you with a practical and intellectual knowledge of dental nursing to allow you to practice competently as a dental nurse in a wide range of clinical areas and to promote team working in the dental profession. This is a full time one-year course.

The study days will be based in the Dental Teaching Unit, Porth, Rhondda Cynon Taf and in the Dental Teaching Unit, Port Talbot. All study days are compulsory. The course is taught by the Postgraduate Dental Section of the School of Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education. You will be required to take up a 2-day a week unpaid placement in a Dental Practice, in addition to your study days.
Minimum entry requirements are: 5 GCSEs (including English/Welsh language, Mathematics, Science or Biology and two other) grade C or above. In addition, the following would be desirable: 1 AS Level (Science subject)

Access to Higher Education: Science or Healthcare Studies Other qualification equivalent to the above Pre course interviews for all candidates will take place between April and May
In 2010, 100% of the School’s graduates were in employment within six months of graduation.
Employers included a variety of NHS Trusts and higher education institutions. Career destinations included: Specialist dental practice, community dental practice and medical research posts.
